Product Description:
YUMA is based on Capture & Process, u-blox' patented software GPS technology that solves the 2 main problems faced by real-time GPS: it's fast, position capture in 0.2 seconds, and extremely low-power allowing weeks or months of battery life.
Capture & Process achieves these results in two-steps:

Capture raw GPS signal data immediately, for example with u-blox' UBX-G0011 RF Front-end IC

Process it for a position fix at a convenient later time
(on a PC or Mac)
YUMA is the software and service component of u-blox' Capture & Process technology which enables this performance. A YUMA-enabled device incorporates a u-blox GPS receiver and uses this to take a number of raw GPS data captures, each only a fraction of a second long.
Later, the stored captures are passed to the YUMA Software GPS Engine which processes them to obtain position fixes.
The process is enabled by accessing additional satellite ephemeris data supplied over the Internet by the YUMA Historic Assistance Service provided by u-blox. YUMA is particularly useful for camera equipment where instantaneous photo geotagging capability with low power consumption is critical. |

YUMA Historic Assistance Service
u-blox’ online YUMA Historic Assistance Service provides satellite ephemeris data for any time after August 2007. The service provides an historical record of GPS satellite locations to support accelerated assisted-GPS positioning.
u-blox provides an optional YUMA Reverse Geocoding Service that translates position fixes (latitude/longitude coordinates) into more recognizable, street, town, region and country names. The highly-reliable service is available from u-blox worldwide via the internet.
Support Products
u-blox provides support products to allow evaluation of YUMA as well as development of 3rd party YUMA-based application software. Additional support products are available to help the design and manufacture of YUMA-enabled devices.

Supported Platforms
The YUMA software and SDK are available for Microsoft
Windows XP 32bit (SP2), Vista 32/64 bit (SP1) and

The following data is based on the YUMA software GPS positioning engine processing 172 ms of 1-bit GPS data captured from a GPS RF frontend running at a rate of 6 MHz.
